A roadmap praised only by Product has completed a team-building exercise, not a test. Support may carry recurring failures. Finance may see an assumption the growth story politely ignores. Afterwards, dissent gets renamed hindsight and everybody develops a fascinating memory problem. Ask the person who must support the promise, operate the process or explain the miss. Invite the strongest opposing case before positions harden. Ask what evidence would alter the recommendation, then give the challenger access to the actual assumptions. Separate the idea from the status of its owner. Performative contrarians are no help; they make noise without adding information. Useful disagreement changes a claim, probability, safeguard or plan.
